Robert Mirabal is a Grammy-winning Native American flutist, instrument maker, and innovative performer born in Taos Pueblo, New Mexico. Known for blending traditional Native melodies with rock-infused fusion and cross-genre collaborations, Mirabal has shaped a distinctive soundscape that respects tradition while pushing creative boundaries. He formed the Mirabal band in 1995 with fellow musicians including Mark Andes, releasing Mirabal in 1997 to introduce a rock-informed approach to indigenous music. His 2016 project The River, a major collaboration with ETHEL featuring Taos Pueblo flute alongside a string quartet, exemplifies his commitment to adventurous, genre-spanning artistry. Based in the American Southwest but touring widely, Mirabal’s work resonates with fans of world, folk, and experimental music alike.
