Rock 'N' Roll Hotel began on H Street NE in 2006 as a three-floor music venue with a rooftop deck at 1353 H St NE, becoming a staple for indie, rock, and underground acts in Washington, DC. Known for its late-night DJ nights upstairs and a lineup that helped launch and sustain a vibrant local scene, the venue hosted notable acts like Sleigh Bells, Best Coast, and Phoenix before it ceased operations in 2020 due to rising costs and market pressures.
