Hailing from Bushehr, Iran, Saeid Shanbezadeh is a virtuoso on the ney-anbân (bagpipe) and ney-jofti (double reed) who blends traditional Gulf music with Afro-Iranian and Baluchi influences. His work sits at the crossroads of Persian Gulf musical heritage and cross-cultural improvisation, inviting dance and dialogue through intricate melodies and hypnotic rhythms. A recipient of the Fajr Music Festival prize in Iran, Shanbezadeh has spent decades touring internationally and collaborating with the Aga Khan Music Programme since 2013, helping to share this rich sonic tapestry with audiences around the world.
