Samuel Blais is a Montreal-based saxophonist, composer, and educator renowned for his expressive alto and soprano lines and insightful group concepts. With formal training in Jazz Performance from McGill University and a Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music, Blais has built a reputation as a compelling voice in contemporary jazz and improvised music. He has earned notable recognition, including the Radio-Canada Jazz Revelation award for 2011–2012 and the Prix Opus Best Jazz Album awards for New Angle (2011) and Equilibrium (2018).
