Semer Ensemble is a standout project in the world of classical and Yiddish-infused music, blending archival material with contemporary arrangements. The lineup features a dynamic mix of talents, including Alan Bern on piano and accordion, Daniel Kahn, Lorin Sklamberg, Sasha Lurje, Fabian Schnedler, Mark Kovnatskiy, Paul Brody, and Martin Lillich. The ensemble’s work sits at the intersection of klezmer, classical nuance, and New Jewish Music, performing songs from Berlin’s 1920s–30s Jewish scene in Yiddish, German, Hebrew, and Russian.
