Shake, Rattle and Roll is a commemorative performance created to celebrate the reopening of Kansas City’s historic Folly Theater after a renovation. Held on the theater’s reopening night in October 2022, the event featured a jamboree of local jazz legends and a formal role for Chuck Haddix, renowned KC jazz historian and curator of the Marr Sound Archives, who served as master of ceremonies. The Folly Theater, located at 300 W 12th St, Kansas City, MO 64105, underwent updates to seating, carpeting, and AV capabilities to welcome patrons back to one of the city’s oldest and most beloved venues. While Shake, Rattle and Roll appears to have been a commemorative moment rather than an ongoing tour, it remains a notable part of Kansas City’s jazz revival story.
