Shirley Alston Reeves is a cornerstone of American pop and R&B history, best known as the lead singer of The Shirelles. Born June 10, 1941 in Henderson, North Carolina and raised in Passaic, New Jersey, she helped define the sound of early 1960s girl groups. The Shirelles delivered timeless hits such as “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” (US No. 1, 1960) and “ Soldier Boy” (US No. 1, 1962).
