Biography
Payadora Tango Ensemble formed in 2013 in Toronto and has since become a leading voice in contemporary tango, merging traditional tango with classical, jazz, and world music. The group is celebrated for its collaborative spirit and storytelling approach, using poetry and historical narratives to illuminate human experience through music. Silent Tears: The Last Yiddish Tango represents a focused artistic project that weaves Paula David’s Terrace Holocaust Survivors poetry and Molly Applebaum’s Buried Words into a tango-inspired soundscape, featuring a host of guest vocalists and lush instrumental textures.
