The Sioux Falls Skyforce are one of the most enduring names in minor league basketball. Founded in 1989 as a Continental Basketball Association (CBA) franchise, the Skyforce joined the NBA Development League (now the NBA G League) in 2006. Over the years, they forged strong affiliations, most notably with the Minnesota Timberwolves and, since the 2013-14 season, the Miami Heat. In 2017, the Heat purchased a controlling interest in the franchise, cementing a strong professional pipeline for developing top basketball talent. Home games are played at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, a compact, energetic venue with a capacity of around 3,250, perfect for intimate, high-intensity performances on the court. The Skyforce have claimed CBA titles in 1996 and 2005 and captured the NBA D-League championship in 2016, marking them as a franchise with a proven track record of success.
