Sonido Gallo Negro emerged in 2010 from Mexico City, weaving instrumental cumbia with Peruvian roots, surf riffs, and psychedelic textures. Core members include Gabriel López, Edwin Noise, and visual artist Dr. Alderete, who contributes theremin and live visuals. Their sound spans Amazonian cumbia, huayno, boogaloo, and chicha, creating cinematic, danceable journeys across continents. With releases on Grabaxiones Alicia and Glitterbeat, and the 2022 Paganismo on Las Dunas Records, they’ve built a dynamic international presence.

Formed in Mexico City, Sonido Gallo Negro has taken their music from local venues to festivals worldwide, including a 2012 invitation to the Kustendorf Festival in Serbia and a 2018 SXSW appearance during the Mambo Cósmico era. Since then, they’ve maintained a busy touring schedule across Europe, North America, and Latin America, delivering high-energy live shows rich in theremin-heavy visuals and hypnotic, dance-driven grooves. Their 2025 tour adapts to a busy calendar across the US West Coast, Midwest, and Latin America, with a CDMX stop in December.
