Sonny Moorman, born Cyril Moorman in 1955 in Ohio, grew up in a family connected to live music, fueling a lifelong passion for high-octane blues-rock. Known for his dynamic guitar work and relentless stage energy, Moorman’s sound has been described as power blues, drawing inspiration from Lonnie Mack, Jimi Hendrix, and Duane Allman. Over the years, he has shared stages with notable acts like Warren Zevon’s touring band and the Tomcats, and his group opened for Johnny Winter in 2012. Moorman has earned regional and national recognition through CAMMY awards and multiple appearances at the International Blues Challenge (IBC), including a 2007 Solo/Duo 2nd place finish and other finalist status. His ongoing live performances and studio work keep him at the forefront of the blues-rock scene.
