Sound Mind Sound Body (SMSB) is a Detroit-born movement combining academics, athletics, and life skills to empower youth and families. Founded in 2004 by Curtis Blackwell II, SMSB aims to reduce high school dropout rates and boost college readiness through innovative programs and strategic partnerships with community initiatives. While primarily recognized for its youth-focused programming, the organization hosts the annual Cheer Showcase in Detroit, highlighting the talents of local athletes and performers who exemplify resilience, teamwork, and leadership.
