South Asian Symphony (SASO) is a pioneering cross-border orchestra founded in 2018 by Nirupama Rao. Debuting in Mumbai in 2019 with Chiragh, the ensemble brought together 70+ musicians from multiple South Asian countries, signaling a bold commitment to peace, cultural integration, and dialogue across eight nations through orchestral music. SASO’s repertoire blends Western classics with South Asian influences, and it collaborates across borders to create innovative programs that resonate with diverse audiences.

Guided by a mission of unity and cultural exchange, SASO has produced landmark projects such as The Spirit of South Asia (a digital offering) that celebrated their third anniversary as a cross-border collaboration around 2021.
