The Southeast Symphony is a storied Los Angeles–area orchestra rooted in a 1948 foundation by Mabel Massengill Gunn, making it one of the longest continuously performing ensembles with a primary focus on African-American musicians and repertoire. Based in the greater Inglewood/Los Angeles region, the symphony has built a reputation for bold readings of spirituals, civil-rights era works, and classical masterworks, all presented with a strong community access and education mission in collaboration with LAUSD.
