Spirit • Nyapanyapa is a standout work from Bangarra Dance Theatre that blends traditional Yolŋu storytelling with contemporary choreography. Premiering in 2004, the piece draws deep inspiration from Nyapanyapa Yunupingu, a renowned Yolŋu painter and cultural consultant whose life and art informed the Spirit segment. Choreography for Spirit • Nyapanyapa features Stephen Page, with contributions from Bernadette Walong-Sene, and a musical score by David Page and Steve Francis. Costumes are by Jennifer Irwin, with set and lighting crafted by acclaimed designers.
