Stary Olsa is a seed of Belarusian musical heritage, founded in 1999 in Minsk by Zmicier Sasnoŭski. This group specializes in authentic Belarusan and Ruthenian medieval music, reimagining ancient timbres with real instruments like bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, gusli, shawms, and other period-accurate devices. They also expand into European Renaissance repertoire and even rock covers performed on historic instruments. Fans appreciate their dedication to historical soundscapes and live energy, whether at festivals across Europe, in the United States, or on intimate concert stages.
