Stephen Cleobury (December 31, 1948 – November 22, 2019) was a pivotal figure in modern choral music. As Director of Music at the Choir of King's College, Cambridge, from 1982 until his passing, he shaped a generation of performers and brought the Christmas tradition of Nine Lessons & Carols to audiences around the world. His leadership extended beyond Cambridge to the BBC Singers, and his influence continues through posthumous releases and ongoing performances by choirs inspired by his work.
