The Tallgrass Film Festival is a cornerstone of independent cinema in the Heartland. Founded in 2003 by Timothy Gruver and run by the non-profit Tallgrass Film Association, this festival champions diverse voices and bold storytelling. Each year in downtown Wichita, the festival curates screenings across multiple venues and engages the community through education and year-round programming at the Tallgrass Film Center.

The 2025 festival runs October 16–19, with virtual screenings October 20–27, and maintains a main hub at Boulevard Theatre with additional screenings at Century II and other local venues.
