She rose to prominence as the 1997 U.S. National Champion and World Champion, and she made history as the 1998 Olympic Champion in Nagano, becoming the youngest Olympic gold medalist in women's figure skating at age 15. A pioneer in the sport, she was the first woman to land a triple loop-triple loop combination in competition, cementing her status as one of the most technically gifted skaters of her generation.
