Terra Nostra is a groundbreaking 30-minute multimedia symphony that addresses climate change through music, poetry, and film. Composed by Christophe Chagnard with poetry by Emily Siff and a film by Charlie Spears (Hullabaloo), the work blends live performance with cinematic storytelling to illuminate environmental themes. The piece premiered in 2015, was revised in 2018, and received a recorded release under Seattle Music in 2019, directed by the composer. The project expanded its reach as Terra Nostra founded Earth Creative in 2020, with Sustainable Seattle serving as its fiscal sponsor since 2016. In 2024, Cedille Records released the world premiere recording featuring Northwestern University ensembles and a performance by Stacy Garrop as composer. Terra Nostra continues to tour and screen the work, connecting audiences with urgent climate narratives.
