The Besmirchers started in the desert southwest with a straightforward creed: play loud, play fast, and never pretend. Their debut, Besmirch and Destroy (CD, 2007, Steel Cage Records), announced a band unafraid of blending gutter-punk grit with the hooks and urgency of 1980s hardcore. An early standout, If Loving You Is Wrong... (originally released in 2012, with a 2025 Bandcamp reissue), showcases themes of frustration and resilience that fans still revisit. The mid-career LP Hate Your Life (2019, Slope Records) cemented their place in the punk scene with tracks that push the tempo while keeping a sneer-worthy edge. The Hard On Love EP (recorded 2015; digital release 2017; 7" by Slope Records in 2015) captures the band’s dynamic range and willingness to experiment within the punk framework.
