The Deford Bailey Legacy Festival Tickets

The Deford Bailey Legacy Festival is a heartfelt tribute to DeFord Bailey, the harmonica virtuoso known as the Harmonica Wizard and one of the earliest stars of the Grand Ole Opry. Curated by Dom Flemons with artistic director Peter Williams and education director PC Muñoz, this festival honors Bailey’s enduring influence on country and roots music while highlighting African American contributions to the genre. The inaugural edition took place December 13–15, 2024 at The Freight in Berkeley, California, and featured a powerful lineup alongside humanities programming such as Westward Bound, an African American country-music history exhibit in collaboration with the Berkeley Public Library. The festival has since become a collaborative effort anchored by The Freight, with social channels connected to The Freight’s platforms.
