Biography
The Delphonics emerged in 1965 in Philadelphia as The Orphonics, soon becoming The Delfonics and establishing themselves as one of the defining acts of the Philly soul sound. William Hart (Poogie) and Wilbert Hart formed the core, with Thom Bell’s production shaping their signature lush, orchestral arrangements and falsetto-led harmonies. The group’s warm, romantic ballads and catchy grooves captured the attention of audiences worldwide and left a lasting imprint on modern soul and R&B.
