The Ice Front is a historically significant drama created to honor a Norwegian National Theatre troupe's resistance to Nazi propaganda during World War II. Written by renowned Utah playwright Eric Samuelsen (1956-2019), the work premiered with Plan-B Theatre at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The world premiere ran November 9–19, 2017, marking Plan-B Theatre’s largest cast to date with a nine-member ensemble. The play was developed through Pioneer Theatre Company’s Play-By-Play readings in 2017 (April 14–15). It has since been recognized in The Collected Plays of Eric Samuelsen (Plan-B Theatre/Leicester Bay Theatricals, 2021) as part of Volume 4. Explore how this powerful narrative blends history, theatre, and resilience, and how it continues to contribute to Utah’s and the wider American theatre landscape.
