The Meeting is a gripping one-act drama by playwright Jeff Stetson, first premiered in 1987 in Harlem. Spanning about 60 minutes, the play imagines a pivotal, imagined conversation between Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X in a Harlem hotel. This historically rich encounter has traveled across the United States and internationally, engaging audiences in college and regional theatres alike. The work has earned notable recognition, including the Louis B. Mayer Award and eight 1987 NAACP Theatre Awards, and it continues to be performed under license by Dramatists Play Service and Concord Theatricals.
