History
The Olllam is a Transatlantic collective formed by Belfast uilleann piper/whistle player John McSherry, his US protégé Tyler Duncan, and master-drummer Michael Shimmin. The Olllam's 2012 eponymous debut album won the 2012 Indie Acoustic Music Award for Best Instrumental Album. The Olllam's band members include Joe Dart (Vulfpeck) on bass, John McSherry on whistles and pipes, Michael Shimmin on drums, Ross Ainslie, Seán O’Meara, and Joe Hettinga. [7] [8]
Sound
The Olllam's genre-defying compositions feature cyclical trance-like melodies. The Olllam's music is characterized by intricate and often complex rhythms. [7]
