The Republic Tigers are an acclaimed indie rock collective rooted in Kansas City, Missouri. Formed by Kenn Jankowski and Adam McGill, the band quickly built a reputation for lush, orchestral textures and pop-infused melodies. Signed to Chop Shop Records, the Atlantic imprint that helped bring innovative acts to a wider audience, they released their debut album Keep Color in May 2008, featuring standout singles like Buildings & Mountains and Fight Song. After years of shelving and revisiting material, the band released Mind Over Matter in June 2020 on Record Machine, opening the door to singles such as Risky Business. Their earlier No Land’s Man EP (April 2011) gained traction on vinyl and in indie stores before a digital release expanded their reach. The Republic Tigers have resonated with television audiences, with placements on Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl, Chuck, and Supernatural, and a notable Late Show with David Letterman appearance on May 22, 2008. Their sound blends orchestral indie rock with pop timbres, earning comparisons to contemporary indie-pop and alternative acts.
