The Virginia Playwright's Forum (VPF) is a statewide, multi-venue program dedicated to developing Virginia-based plays and supporting local playwrights. Founded in 2001 by Patti Wray and Jean Klein, VPF has built a robust ecosystem for staged readings, play development, and collaboration with regional theaters across Virginia. With its home base at The Venue on 35th in Norfolk (operated by Looking Glass Productions since 2007), VPF continues to foster new voices and nurture innovative theatrical works.

VPF is led by co-director Patti Wray, a noted Virginia playwright and Dramatists Guild ambassador, and co-founder/director Jean Klein, who contributes to education and publication initiatives within the Virginia theatre community. The Forum partners with venues such as The American Theatre in Hampton and is planning expansion to Waynesboro in 2026, broadening its reach and impact across the Commonwealth.
