The Walking Sticks emerged from the Silver Spring and greater DC area around 2011–2012, formed by brothers Max and Spencer Ernst with Chelsea Lee. In 2015, The Walking Sticks released The News (single/album) on Play Me Records, a project that captured their evolving approach and prepared fans for what came next. As the music landscape shifted, the group rebranded as Shaed in March 2016, signing with Photo Finish Records. The debut Shaed EP, Just Wanna See, arrived in 2016, signaling a new chapter while staying true to the melodic core fans loved from The Walking Sticks.

Shaed’s breakout arrived with Trampoline in 2018, a track that propelled them onto mainstream charts and secured high-profile syncs, including a renowned Apple MacBook Air advertisement.
