Biography
Originating in Los Angeles in 1966, The Yellow Payges carved out a niche in the burgeoning garage and psychedelic scenes of the era. They opened for The Animals and The Beach Boys, and their early momentum included a memorable appearance on American Bandstand. The band released Volume 1 in 1969 on UNI Records, a collection later remastered and reissued on CD by Relics. After an initial run, they reformed in 2011 with a refreshed lineup and have continued to perform selected shows into the 2020s. Their music is characterized by high-energy guitar riffs, bluesy undertones, and expansive psychedelic textures that capture a specific slice of Southern California rock history.
