This Is My Brave (TIMB) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ending the stigma around mental illness through creative personal storytelling. Since debuting in Arlington, VA in 2014, TIMB has grown into a nationwide and international storytelling movement, featuring stories that explore mental health, addiction, resilience, and recovery. Founded in 2013 by Jennifer Marshall and Anne Marie Ames, TIMB became an official 501(c)(3) in 2014. The organization has produced over 110 shows across dozens of U.S. cities and an international TIMB unit in Australia launched in 2017. TIMB partners with universities, community organizations, and national networks to bring intimate, cathartic performances to audiences everywhere. Jennifer Marshall’s leadership earned recognition as Washingtonian of the Year (2018) and the Clifford W. Beers Award from Mental Health America (2017). In 2021, TIMB governance transitioned with Erin Gallagher stepping in as Interim Executive Director, guiding ongoing collaborations with the University of South Florida’s STAR Lab for public mental health interventions.
