The Torrington Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is the Northwest Corner’s full symphonic treasure, founded in spring 1961 by William J. Khoury and Victor Muschell. Since its first concert on April 11, 1961 at the Warner Theatre, TSO has grown into a volunteer-run, nonprofit 501(c)(3) that relies on ticket sales, donations, and grants to deliver live orchestral experiences for communities across CT, NY, and MA. Today, under the baton of conductor Kyle Camerato (appointed in July 2025), the orchestra brings together more than 45 amateur and professional musicians from 25 towns, rehearsing Wednesday evenings for collaborative, four-concert seasons that span Baroque to contemporary works and even show tunes. TSO stands as the only full symphonic orchestra in northwest Connecticut, offering education programs and scholarships to participating students and weaving arts into community life with frequent collaborations with choral groups and professional soloists.
