Trio Los Panchos is one of the most enduring names in romantic Latin music. Formed in 1944 in New York City by Alfredo Gil (El Güero Gil), Chucho Navarro, and Hernando Avilés, the group helped establish the three‑part vocal harmony bolero trio format that remains influential today. Over the decades, various lineups have carried the torch, with Chucho Navarro Jr. leading the current incarnation. Their sound combines lush vocal harmonies with the sharpened requinto guitar, a hallmark of Alfredo Gil’s innovation.
