Tripping Daisy emerged from Dallas, Texas in 1990, carving out a distinct space in alternative rock. Founded by Tim DeLaughter, Mark Pirro, and Wes Berggren, the band released its early indie gem Bill (1992) on Dragon Street Records before Island Records re-released it to broader audiences. The breakthrough arrived with the Island Records era, propelled by the MTV airplay video for I Got a Girl from the I Am an Elastic Firecracker period. That album, released in 1995, sold around 300,000 copies in the United States and earned Platinum status in Canada, cementing Tripping Daisy as a critically acclaimed act of the era.
