UNM Honky Tonk Ensemble Tickets

The UNM Honky Tonk Ensemble stands out as the only collegiate ensemble in the United States dedicated to the classic 1950s–70s honky-tonk country sound. Founded in 2014 by Dr. Kristina Jacobsen and co-facilitated by Alex MacMahon, this ensemble welcomes UNM students and community members alike. The program is designed to teach musicians how to play as a band, with instruction from performing country artists, scholars, and guest artists. Each fall and spring semester, the ensemble curates performances that bring the golden era of country music to life on stage.

Beyond its classroom roots, the UNM Honky Tonk Ensemble has shared its music in public appearances like the 2019 KUNM Studio Sessions and AMP Concerts listings. Their repertoire from 2021–2022 includes timeless tunes from Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty, and Ernest Tubb, performed within UNM contexts such as Ear to the Ground features.
