UPU, meaning 'word' in many Pacific Island languages, brings together 20+ Pacific poets to perform a powerful blend of spoken-word poetry and theatre. Originating at Silo Theatre in Auckland (2020) and directed by Fasitua Amosa with curator Grace Iwashita-Taylor, UPU presents voices from Te Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa through a rich, multi-layered soundscape. The show has toured internationally, including CINARS in Montreal (2024) and a forthcoming season at the Sydney Opera House (May 2025). This performer page highlights the ensemble, notable works, awards, and upcoming tour dates across New Zealand and Australia.
