Vortex 1 - An Original Musical Tickets

Vortex 1 is an original musical rooted in the historic Vortex I: A Biodegradable Festival of Life, held in Estacada, Oregon in August–September 1970. The project reimagines the festival’s creative energy through a staged musical experience that honors community, peace-building, and forward-looking artistry. The modern production team includes Book/Lyrics by Sue Mach, Music by Bill Wadhams, Arranger Reece Marshburn, and Director Allen Nause, with a performing cast led by Leif Norby, Malia Tippets, Colin Kane, Nathan Duncan, Danielle Weathers, Charles Grant, Randi Douglas, Eric Viale, Olivia Stone, Duncan Cass, Bruce Lawson, and Brian Myers. The ensemble is supported by a live band featuring Bill Wadhams (guitar), Tom Grant (piano), Martin Zarzar (percussion), Paul Trubachick (bass), and Charles Pike (drums).

Public staging for this contemporary reimagining occurred on May 11, 2022, at Portland State University’s Lincoln Recital Hall as a staged reading, a milestone highlighted on the project site. A 50th-anniversary recording session took place in August 2020 at Falcon Recording Studio, capturing tracks associated with the show, including songs like "This Moment," "No More Bullshit," "What Are The Odds," "Political Suicide," "The Mountain Doesn’t Move," "Right Hand Man," and "Yes, Because Estacada."
