Bruno Beltrão, born in 1979 in Niterói, Brazil, is a defining voice in contemporary dance through the lens of hip-hop aesthetics. As the artistic director of Grupo de Rua (GRN), he creates abstract choreographic landscapes that fuse street-style movement with refined performance sensibilities. Beltrão’s work has redefined what dance can be, making bold statements about form, space, and society. White Bird Uncaged brings his daring choreographic voice to Portland, continuing a long-standing collaboration that includes a documented 2010 appearance by Beltrão/Grupo de Rua. Expect immersive performances that challenge the body and imagination, with textures drawn from urban rhythms and precise physicality.
