Raised across two continents, Nakamura brings a polished, expressive voice to the stage. He joined the New Century Jazz Quintet and has shared the spotlight with Toshiko Akiyoshi, Wynton Marsalis, Joe Lovano, and Lew Tabackin. His recordings, A Lifetime Treasure (2016) and Hometown (2017) on Atelier Sawano / Jazz Sawano, highlight his lyrical improvisation and meticulous craftsmanship. Hometown was JazzLife magazine’s album of the year in 2017, signaling his growing impact on the contemporary jazz scene.

In the 2025–26 season, Yasushi Nakamura is actively touring, including a Mezzrow engagement with Makoto Ozone in October 2025 and performances at iconic venues like Birdland and Dizzy’s Club, as well as a December calendar filled with exciting appearances.
