Hailing from Kyoto, Yutaka Sado is a distinguished conductor known for his expansive repertoire, engaging interpretations, and prolific recording career. A product of Kyoto City University of Arts, he further refined his craft under the guidance of mentors like Seiji Ozawa and Leonard Bernstein. Since 2015/16, Sado has served as Chief Conductor of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, and from 2023 he has been the Music Director of the New Japan Philharmonic. He also has directed the Hyogo Performing Arts Center as Artistic Director since 2005. His work spans Mahler, Bernstein, Haydn, Bruckner, and beyond, with an impressive catalog of 50+ CDs/DVDs published between 2019 and 2025.
