Zach Nugent has carved out a distinct place in the Grateful Dead community as a versatile guitarist and collaborative artist. Previously a guitarist with Melvin Seals & JGB, Nugent now leads Dead Set, a project known for rotating all-star lineups that honor the Dead’s improvisational spirit. His work draws on deep Dead lineage while inviting new listeners through original material and guest appearances with other respected artists in the scene.

Nugent’s debut full-length album, Good So Far (2022) on Good So Far Records, features collaborations with Peter Rowan, John Popper, Cindy Cashdollar, and more, showcasing a blend of blues, folk, and jam textures. Notable singles from 2022 include Some Place I Call Home (feat. Peter Rowan), Trouble Overnight, and Amazing Grace. In 2024, he released Lily of the Lake (featuring Daniel Marc) and Do You Hear What I Hear? (featuring Nugent and band).
