The Art of Cool Festival (AOCFEST) grew from its 2014 debut under the guidance of co-founder Cicely Mitchell and became a valued Durham music experience. While the festival moved through several venues over the years, Durham’s vibrant arts scene remains central to its identity.   • Founded in 2013 with the first event in 2014; co-founded by Cicely Mitchell.
  • Main venue historically was the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP), with capacity ~10,000, located at 409 Blackwell Street, Durham, NC 27701.
  • Other regular venues included the Durham Armory (585+314 balcony), Motorco (400+), The Carolina Theatre (Fletcher Hall ~1,048 seats), The Pinhook (~250), and Beyu Caffè.
  • In 2018, Art of Cool Festival was acquired by The DOME Group; the festival did not return for a later edition (last held in 2019).
