The venue has a storied history, originally opening as City Stadium in 1940, later known as Calvin Falwell Field at City Stadium, and renamed Bank of the James Stadium in 2020. The City of Lynchburg owns the facility and Hillcats Baseball LLC has operated it since 2024.
