About Bayview Opera House
Welcome to Bayview Opera House, a historic community performing arts venue in Bayview-Hunters Point, San Francisco. With a seating capacity of approximately great seats in the main auditorium, this landmark venue reopened in 2016 as the Ruth Williams Memorial Theater following a thoughtful renovation that added an outdoor stage and enhanced ADA accessibility. The building, originally known as the South San Francisco Opera House, was renamed in 1995 to honor Ruth Williams and is now a designated SF Landmark and NRHP-listed. We’re here to help you secure seats for the engaging programs this venue hosts—from dance and youth ensembles to community performances.
Parking can be limited at times, with nearby lots on 3rd Street and Oakdale. For convenient access, the Oakdale/Muni Metro (T Third Street) station is nearby. If you’re traveling from out of town, consider nearby hotels such as St. Regis San Francisco (125 3rd St) and Hilton San Francisco Union Square (333 O'Farrell St) for comfortable stays within reach of the theatre.
