About Canal Street Tavern
Canal Street Tavern, located at 308 E. First Street in downtown Dayton, is a storied venue known for intimate, high-quality live music. Though the brand evolved to Canal Public House in 2013 after the sale by founder Mick Montgomery, the space remains a cornerstone of Dayton’s music scene, hosting iconic acts such as Mary Chapin Carpenter, Los Lobos, Phish, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Buckwheat Zydeco, The Breeders, and Guided By Voices. The venue now sits within a broader Canal Public House experience, continuing the tradition of close-up performances in a renovated but character-rich setting.
