Seating, Parking & Venue Information
- Founded in 1977; relocated from Chicago to New York in 1979 and opened its own theater in 1980 on West 42nd Street (Jose Quintero Theatre, 534 W 42nd St).
- José Quintero Theatre capacity was 93 seats; demolished in 2006 and replaced by a residential building.
- The troupe later performed at Jan Hus Playhouse (351 E 74th St) for about 14 years (1981–1992); the Jan Hus Playhouse is a small, ~150-seat venue located in the basement of Jan Hus Church.
- Broadway Comedy Club (318 W 53rd St) has been a notable NYC venue for CCL; Broadway Comedy Club capacity is cited around 275 for the entire space.
- As of the mid-2010s–present, Chicago City Limits no longer has a single permanent home and books shows at a variety of NYC venues; they also actively promote performing at external clubs and venues.
- Notable events hosted include MAC Award recognitions for Chicago City Limits (first MAC Awards in 1987 and 1988 for the touring company; 2008 for the New York company) and productions like Hus on First? at the Jan Hus Playhouse in 2014.
