About City Winery - Napa
City Winery Napa sits inside the historic Napa Valley Opera House, a storied performing arts complex in downtown Napa. The venue historically hosted a range of acts across its upstairs JaM Cellars Ballroom (roughly 300–650 seats) and downstairs Blue Note Napa (about 150 seats). In 2014 City Winery Napa opened there, then ceased operations in 2015 as the space evolved. Blue Note Napa operated in the same building until 2025 when the venue announced relocation to San Francisco. Today, visitors can explore the legacy of live music in this downtown Napa location and stay tuned for future developments in the space.
Whether you’re planning a night of intimate jazz or a larger concert experience, we’ve got you covered with practical details, nearby accommodations, and trusted dining options to pair with your show. Secure your seats and enjoy a seamless night out in downtown Napa.
Seating & layout: The building houses two primary spaces. JaM Cellars Ballroom upstairs offers a flexible seating range of roughly 300–650 seats, suitable for intimate to mid-size concerts. Downstairs, Blue Note Napa seats about 150, delivering an intimate, jazz-friendly setting. This historic multi-venue layout means you may encounter different seating configurations depending on the event. When planning, check your specific show’s seating note to confirm the exact arrangement for that performance.
Parking: Parking is available on-site behind the Blue Note and in adjacent lots. Downtown Napa also offers public garages, including Clay Street Garage and Second Street Garage, both within a short stroll of the Opera House. Arrive early to secure convenient parking and time to explore the neighborhood.
Transit & Getting Around: Napa Valley is served by Vine Transit with stops near downtown Napa’s transit centers like Soscol Gateway. Downtown Napa is very walkable and bike-friendly, making an evening easily complemented by a stroll to nearby eateries and wine-tasting spots after the show.
Nearby hotels & dining (affiliate recommendations): For convenient stays, consider Archer Hotel Napa (1230 First St, ~0.2 miles), Andaz Napa (1450 First St, ~0.2–0.3 miles), and Napa River Inn (500 Main St, ~0.5 miles). These properties pair well with stroll-friendly routes to the Opera House. For dining and pre-show or post-show options, explore trusted partner restaurants in the area—perfect for a seamless, no-fuss evening.
Important note about the venue: City Winery Napa was renamed/renamed through its period of operation and was replaced by Blue Note Napa in 2016. Blue Note Napa operated until 2025 before relocating to San Francisco. Always verify the current venue status and show details when booking.
