About Community Players Theatre

Welcome to Community Players Theatre (CPT), a beloved nonprofit, volunteer-run venue in Bloomington, IL with a history dating back to 1923. The current building opened in 1962 on the former Esquire movie theatre site, and CPT continues to host engaging productions, typically two to three musicals per season. The 2025-2026 season includes some off-site performances at The Normal Theater and the Community Activity Center, giving audiences fresh ways to experience live theatre.

Our goal is to help you secure your seats with ease. CPT offers great seats with two wheelchair spaces, and online seating charts noted for reserved seating in 2025. Whether you’re a local or visiting the Bloomington-Normal area, we’ve gathered practical details on seating, parking, transportation, and nearby hotels and dining to help you plan a smooth theatre night.

Seating is reserved for shows in 2025, so you can choose your exact seats once you select a performance. Parking is straightforward with a dedicated lot entrance on Towanda Avenue, plus accessible parking available at the Bloomington Post Office lot. CPT advises avoiding certain nearby lots and alley areas for ease of access. While CPT does not publish formal transit details on their site, many guests find convenient options via car or rideshare to and from the venue.

Nearby hotels include Bloomington-Normal area staples such as Eastland Suites and Quality Inn & Suites Bloomington Normal, along with other hotels in the 61701 area within a short drive. For a complete visit, consider pairing your show with a meal at nearby restaurants, and check our affiliate recommendations for trusted lodging and dining partners.
