About Diesel Playhouse

Diesel Playhouse was a beloved two-space theatre in Toronto’s Downtown/Entertainment District, featuring a main theatre and a cabaret. The venue opened as Diesel Playhouse in April 2006 in a building originally constructed in 1997 for The Second City. One of its notable productions was Evil Dead: The Musical (2007–2008), which became one of Toronto’s longest-running Canadian shows at the venue. Although the space is no longer operating as Diesel Playhouse and the building has been redeveloped, the location remains a landmark in Toronto’s theatre history and the surrounding district continues to thrive with dining, lodging, and cultural options.

For theatre fans and visitors, the Entertainment District around 56 Blue Jays Way offers convenient access to transit, parking, and nearby hotels. If you’re planning a future visit to this area, consider secure, easy booking for current events at nearby venues and stay informed about the ongoing redevelopment in the area. For lodging, dining, and travel planning, we’ve highlighted trusted affiliate partners in hotels and restaurants to help you secure a comfortable stay and a great meal after a show.
