With a focus on music, culture, sports and community gatherings, the site is operated under the Durango Mesa Park Foundation and is being developed toward eventual city ownership. Access is scheduled-event only, with on-site parking passes required for events and shuttle service available from the Durango Transit Center and Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall. The venue hosts notable events such as Meltdown on the Mesa and portions of the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, and plans include an amphitheater capable of substantial capacity in the future.
